Setting the Gold Standard
Donor cows are high-quality exclusive cows who produce the embryos we use to impregnate the receipt cows on the property. Along with our champion donors cows, we have 30 recip cows who carry the embryos of our donors.
IVF For Cattle
A flush is the gathering process to retain the oocytes that become embryos in the lab. There can be 1-30 embryos created from a single flush.
The team at GoldMark Farm hand-selects the sires to match with each donor cow in hopes of producing a champion heifer. The semen is either sorted by sex when collected or put through reverse sorting at the time of implantation.
Sexed semen is at a premium because you are guaranteed a heifer calf, which is easier to market and sell and often worth more money in the long run.
Our cattle are fed a specific diet and given a minerals-free choice to ensure optimum health for producing calves. We feed hay from the farm in the winter and grain from a local feed mill specially formulated for the breeding stages, including the pregnant cows, the calves, and moms with babies at their side.

Sires
GoldMark doesn’t keep bulls on property. We hand–select the best sires for our show cattle and ensure that our breeding program is top–notch. Our donor cows and the sires are selected to bring out the best qualities in future calves.

Modern Technology Meets Classic Animal Husbandry
We order the semen online, and it is shipped in nitrogen. It’s then placed in our semen tank filled with nitrogen until needed.
